Want to be part of a new, creative startup? The Stray is a music and arts cafe in Wyoming MI, promoting the local art scene in the West Michigan area. We have live music, art demonstrations, and an eclectic menu of food and coffee available in a relaxed cafe environment.
JOB DESCRIPTION
We are searching for an impassioned Cashier who is enthusiastic about food and beverage education and creation. As the face of The Stray, the Cashier will be responsible for greeting customers, making them feel welcome, and answering any questions they may have about the menu and events at The Stray. In addition to taking orders, the Cashier will demonstrate knowledge about The Stray’s coffee and culture. To succeed in this role, the Cashier should be committed to providing exceptional customer service with a positive and friendly attitude, and demonstrate prior knowledge of cash handling.
Hours: Full and Part Time available
ELIGIBILITY AND PREFERRED SKILLS:

Very friendly and conversational

Able to handle money responsibly and accurately

18 + for alcohol service

Able to multitask and work under pressure

Creative and passionate about music and art
RESPONSIBILITIES:
-
Greeting customers and taking their orders
-
Answering any questions customers may have and offering recommendations from our menu

Remaining aware of events occurring in the cafe: musical performance that night, artist demonstration that afternoon, etc. and answering any questions customers may have
-
Preparing quick drinks and food (i.e. drip coffee, sodas, pastries etc.)

Maintaining a clean and hygienic working area
-
General opening and closing responsibilities
-
Pouring draft beers and wine
-
Responsible handling of alcohol
-
Willing to crosstrain for other positions as needed (ex: line cook, runner/busser, barista)
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Long periods of standing and moving around the cafe

Occasional heavy lifting (50 lbs)
