Want to be part of a new, creative startup? The Stray is a music and arts cafe in Wyoming MI, promoting the local art scene in the West Michigan area. We have live music, art demonstrations, and an eclectic menu of food and coffee available in a relaxed cafe environment.



We are searching for a passionate, engaging, and courteous Barista who is enthusiastic about food and beverage preparation and education. The Barista will be responsible for crafting delicious coffee for customers throughout the day, engaging with customers to create a welcoming environment, and communicating with the cashier and busser to confirm orders and ensure drinks are delivered carefully and efficiently. The Barista will also maintain a clean and well-stocked workspace and dining area. To succeed in this role, the Barista must be committed to providing exceptional customer service with a positive and friendly attitude. 



  • Prior barista experience 

  • Has in-depth knowledge of coffee, espresso, and tea brewing (understanding of other stages such as roasting is great too)

  • Demonstrated passion and enthusiasm for coffee

  • Has shown meticulous attention to detail

  • Must be able to multitask and work under pressure

  • Conversational and friendly

  • On time and reliable

  • 18+ for alcohol service during evening hours



  • Preparing and serving beverages according to recipes and established standards. 

  • Gaining and maintaining knowledge of products sold and being able to respond to questions and make suggestions about products.

  • Crafting  a select number of cocktails/ coffee cocktails and pouring draft beers and wine. Experience appreciated, not required. 

  • Responsible handling of alcohol

  • Maintaining a clean and hygienic working area

  • General opening and closing responsibilities

  • Willing to crosstrain for other positions as needed (ex: line cook, runner/busser, cashier)

  • Maintaining a positive, safe atmosphere in the cafe



  • Long periods of standing and moving around the cafe

  • Occasional heavy lifting- 50 lbs. 

  • Frequent handling of extreme-temperature equipment (hot to cold)
