Want to be part of a new, creative startup? The Stray is a music and arts cafe in Wyoming MI, promoting the local art scene in the West Michigan area. We have live music, art demonstrations, and an eclectic menu of food and coffee available in a relaxed cafe environment.

 

JOB DESCRIPTION

We are searching for an enthusiastic and committed Line Cook who is passionate about the aesthetic vision of food assembly. The Line Cook will be responsible for preparing the daily AM and PM menu as well as finishing real-time orders efficiently for maximum customer satisfaction. In addition to filling orders, the Line Cook will communicate directly with the cashier and/or barista to inspire collaboration and deliver the best customer service possible. To succeed in this role, the Line Cook should be committed to creating delicious food as described in The Stray’s recipe, and maintaining a positive atmosphere behind the bar and in the kitchen. 

 

Hours: Full and Part time available


 

ELIGIBILITY AND PREFERRED SKILLS:

  • 16 years or older

  • Accuracy and efficiency in executing assigned tasks

  • Willingness to learn 

  • Team-oriented

  • Organized 

  • Ability to multitask and work under pressure

  • Attention to detail

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Must  follow The Stray’s  recipes

  • Able to prepare sandwiches, salads, soups, etc. in a sanitary and timely manner

  • On time and reliable

  • Preps ingredients and food according  to standards given

  • Restock items throughout shift

  • Cooking and preparing menu items in cooperation with the rest of the kitchen staff

  • Demonstrate standards of cleanliness in the kitchen 

  • Adhere to standard operating procedures and fill out logs accurately 

  • Willing to crosstrain for other positions (ex: cashier, runner/busser, barista)

 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Long periods of standing and moving around the kitchen

  • Demonstrating proper precautionary measures when working with heavy machinery

  • Occasional heavy lifting (50 lbs)
